June is the first month of summer in Nepal. However, the month is not particularly wet or rainy, and it takes the first few weeks of June to fully activate Summer. You can plan a short trek through the Manaslu region before mid-June. The rainfall will be light, and the trails are passable. The temperature is warm, hovering around 25 degrees Celsius. During this month, the courses are less crowded, making it an ideal time for peace lovers. This month, the lower area of Manaslu should receive an average of 460mm of rainfall. Rainfall is lower in the higher regions. Snowfall is more likely in high-altitude areas such as Larkya La Pass. You can do Manaslu Trek in June. , but you must be quick. You cannot postpone the Manaslu Trek in the final weeks of June. During these last few weeks, the monsoon is at its peak.

July:

This month is not ideal for trekking in Nepal. July allows the Monsoon to fully activate, resulting in the wettest trails to trek. If you can handle the rainy weather, this month can provide you with an experience that few others have had. During this month, rain is expected every two days on average. The temperature can drop slightly when it rains or when there are dark clouds. Otherwise, lower Manaslu is humid and hot. July is one of the most difficult months for trekking in the Himalaya. The weather is not favorable. Snowfall and rain can occur at any time. If you do not have a flexible trekking schedule, do not choose this time.

August:

In Nepal, the summer season continues through August. This month’s conditions are very similar to those of June and July. Rainfall, wet trails, leeches on the tracks, dark clouds, and obstructed mountain views are all common during this month. It is time for those who are comfortable with the conditions. If someone wants clear mountain views and rainless days, August is not the time. However, by late August, the weather has become somewhat stable. The dark clouds in Manaslu’s skies finally begin to clear, ushering in the autumn season. Yes, there is still a chance of rain, but not as much as in the first few weeks. If you can handle the trek during this time, you can experience the Manaslu region in a mixed condition of Summer and Autumn.

September:

The weather in September can be quite confusing at times. It is already Autumn, but you may encounter light showers. That is, the Monsoon takes a few days in September to leave its surroundings. And this is how you can deal with monsoon and autumn conditions. Manaslu Trek is definitely possible in September. The first few weeks can be wet, so don’t forget to bring rain gear.

March is a little colder than the other spring months. In the higher elevations of the hike, the average temperature is about -6 degrees. March will be warm, though, especially in the lower Manaslu region. Under springtime conditions, the farmlands, forests, and terrain can be compared to heaven. Additionally, you can see the Manaslu region’s snow-capped mountains. Although it may be colder than other months, if you prepare properly, the trek can be completed with ease. Other than a little chill, you won’t have any bad weather experiences.

April:

The spring season in Nepal begins in April, and temperatures in the Manaslu region rise to 6 to 12 degrees Celsius. The trail is blooming with colorful Spring flowers, including Nepal’s national flower, Rhododendron, which turns red. This is the best time to explore the natural beauty of the Manaslu Region because it is peak trekking season, with easy access to food and lodging. Despite the large crowds, the Manaslu trail is less crowded than the Everest and Annapurna regions. As the season progresses, now is an excellent time to explore the natural beauty of the Manaslu region.

May:

May, the final month of Spring in Nepal, is the hottest of the three, signaling the start of Summer. Despite the chilly temperatures, May in the Manaslu Region brings clear, bright sunny days and breathtaking mountains. The longer days provide more sunny hours for trekking, allowing for a more relaxed exploration without rushing. However, the weather may turn unfavorable in the coming weeks, with dark clouds approaching and light rain. May is an ideal month for those who missed April but can’t wait for the next Spring, as it allows them to explore the breathtaking mountains of the Manaslu Region without rushing.

Permits and paperwork for Manaslu trek:

Manaslu is the restricted area trek so there are not allowed trek without agency. So, compulsory you have with guide and proper agency management with requiring specific permits for travelers to explore. These permits are required for visiting villages like Deng, Jagat, Namrung, Samagaon and Samdo. The cost of these permits varies based on tourist influx, with higher costs during high seasons and lower costs during low tourist periods. This permit ensures the region’s sustainability. The permits are separated by the season, for the special restricted permits are as given below:

# Spring season (September to November): USD 100 per person for the first seven days and an additional USD 15 per person per day from the eighth day onwards

# Automn season (December to August): USD 75 per person for the first seven days and an additional USD 10 per person per day from the eighth day onwards.

# Conservation Permits:

  • ACAP USD 30 Per person for the whole trek
  • MCAP USD 30 per person for the whole trek
  • TIMS USD 20 per person for the whole trek

This permits fee helps conserve natural beauty, ecological balance, and maintenance of trails and facilities. Non-mandatory trekking permits include the Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) permit, which is required for all foreign trekkers in Nepal. For the Manaslu circuit trek, three permits are needed: MRAP, MCAP, and ACAP. TIMS permits are around $20 and last as many days. which ensures tourism regulation and climate conservation.
