Everest Trek by Jeep, Surkey village is the small village direction 2-3 hours walking distance towards Lukla Village, off road driving from Salleri/ Phaplu to Surkey is about 73 km. there are also possible to take a local jeep to get Surkey village, but you have to wait until the jeep is full, there are no fixed departure time. How is the road condition from Kathmandu to Salleri/ Phaplu?
Kathmandu to Salleri is 270 km starting from BP highway until Khurkot very nice road bank of Sunkoshi River build by Japanese government, after Khurkot continue Sagarmath Highway along the Sunkoshi River, road is some places are not fixed bridge and some place broken by flood. In summary can say driving to Salleri from Kathmandu is good and safe to drive.
How long does it take to reach in Phaplu?
According to distance it is not so long, but this is hilly and mountain road, uphill and downhill, that why it took about 9-11 hours to reach Phaplu, but if you go by road (jeep driving) this is long drive even you will have wonderful experience, like beautiful landscape, local cultures, views of mountains and many more… Which is you will never explore in lifetime.
How is road condition to Surke from Salleri?
Everest Trek by Jeep, Salleri to Surkey is newly connect road, so there is no conceit, this is all off road driving also only 4WD. Only about 73 Km but it took 7-8 Hours. If you drive, then you will have another 4WD driving experience in Nepal Himalayas. Normally the locals always driving this road, because there is only way to connect with district headhunter to people from the remote village.
Well, Everest trek by jeep is in conclusion: There are several hours to drive to Surke, but if you are cancelled your flight to Lukla several times then it is boring only to go airport and back hotel several times. To hire your own jeep and drive slowly observing wonderful landscape and mountains are much better and new experience is the best and it is cheaper then fly to Lukla.
